Author and activist Shawn Ginwright — associate professor of education in the Africana Studies Department at San Francisco State University — is an expert on African American youth, youth organizing, and youth development. This fall, Ginwright visited the Ed School as part of the Civic and Moral Education Initiative dialogues. In his talk, Ginwright discussed his forthcoming book, Soul Rebels, and its theme of hope for urban youth and the community activists who work to serve them.

In this edition of the Harvard EdCast, Ginwright further responds to the crisis of hopelessness among youth of color in urban America.
